God wants to change us!

When we are Born Again Our Heavenly Father has placed His Spirit in us and through His Spirit He wants to conform us into His image; His Way of thinking, looking at our lives, and acting. He wants us to be transformed taking on His heart and exhibiting the Fruit of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

You see when we become Born Again He makes a deposit into our being that is His Spirit; we become a “New Creation”. We are spirit we have a soul [mind, will, and emotions] and we live in a body. The only part that is redeemed is our Spirit.

Our Spirit is completely righteous before a Holy God. It’s our soul and body that now needs to come under alignment to God’s Way of thinking and doing. It’s an inside job: His Spirit changing our way of thinking;
if we allow Him to do so.

To me this is the ultimate
personal development pathway; inside out.

Unfortunately many in the Body of Christ has bought into the idea that we can change ourselves from the outside in.

Multi-Level Marketing is a powerful business model for wealth creation and companies over the decades that have promoted personal development as a critical part of that wealth creation process. As such
we end up chasing the “provision” and not “The Provider”.

In my opinion too many of us in the Body of Christ are walking down another road to personal development that will not result in us manifesting the Fruit of the Holy Ghost nor will it lead to the expansion of His Kingdom. It’s a personal development process that is motivated by self-gain and the accumulation of wealth rather than a motivation of becoming more like Him and accumulating souls for His Kingdom; allowing the Holy Spirit living in us to conform us to His image and likeness.

We get these things confused:
  • “Inside-Out” vs. “Outside-In”;
  • Living from the “Tree of Life” vs. living from the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil”; we are more enamored and strive after rationalization vs. Revelation and Revelation from the Word of God.
  • Walking in the Spirit vs. walking in the flesh.
“There is a way that seems right to a man but in the end it leads to death.”

“What does it profit a man to gain the whole world but loose his soul?”

“Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven and all that you need will be added unto you”

“I wish that you should prosper even as your soul prospers”

“Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

With these Words from God the Bible whispers to our souls, drawing us toward something bigger than ourselves.

The Bible is all about
personal development God’s Way however most of us seem tofall short in terms of letting God’s Word take us down His pathway to personal development. Thus we never experience the level of provision [His Grace] in our lives that He wants for us. We are quick to purchase and read through books written by man that claim to offer a process to self-development but in the end it is like chasing the wind and it has no transformational effect on our lives and in fact moves us away from a genuine, consistent, and transforming commitment to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I’m speaking to believers here.

Jesus in His parable of the Sower and the Seed describes four [4] types of soil [our hearts], that seed [His Word] falls on. The fourth type is “Good Soil” that the roots grow down but some bear fruit 30 – 60- or 100 fold.

The reason most of us do not get to 100 fold of fruitfulness [Fruit of the Spirit] is that we do personal development our way and not His way.

His Way comes through revelation and revelation from the Word of God.

The Bible offers us powerful pearls of wisdom about daily life, our relationship to our culture, our relationship to God and our relationship with others.

I sense it is the intent of the Holy Spirit to draw out some of these pearls of wisdom for us over the course of the next several months as a means of providing a
pathway for personal development His Way.

Jesus said of Himself,
“I Am the Way, The Truth and The Life and no one comes to the Father except through Me”.

He is
“The Life”The Holy Spirit is the One Who should be our Mentor, our Teacher and our Counselor.

Jesus said,
“If any of you wants to be My follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross and follow Me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for My sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it”.

Jesus said,
“If you love Me, you will obey My commands”.

Are you ready to make a commitment to
do personal development His Way?

So here is the first
Personal Development Wisdom Principle:

Giving the gift of Patience

In 1 Corinthians 13:4 the Apostle Paul says the
“Love is Patient”; interesting because God is Love. Being Patient shows willingness to:
  • Cut people slack, even when they may not deserve it
  • Withhold judgment when people mess up
  • Give people time to grow
Patience allows us to look past people’s rough exteriors to see what’s inside.

Patience allows us to accept people as they are and to resist the urge to change them.

To give someone the gift of patience is to lay the groundwork for a deeper relationship with that person. If you have trouble giving the gift of patience to others, remind yourself that your loved ones – you know, the people who are the closest to you – give you the gift of patience every day J.

As we go through these
Personal Development Wisdom Principles you will begin noticing that they will go a long way in protecting your heart, for the Bible says that out of a man’s heart springs forth the issues of life.

Jesus said,
“ A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. A tree is identified by its fruit. Figs are never gathered from thorn bushes, and grapes are not picked from bramble bushes. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.”

May the Peace of Christ be with you!

The grass withers and the flowers fade
beneath the breath of the Lord.
And so it is with people.
The grass withers and the flowers fade,
but the word of our God stands forever.”     ISAIAH 40: 7-8

“So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say? I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. But anyone who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins.”  LUKE 6: 46-49
