God wants to change us!
… Becoming a cheerful and silent giver

Previously we learned that when we are Born Again [John 3] Our Heavenly Father has placed His Spirit in us [our dead spirit becomes alive to Him] and through His Spirit He wants to conform us into His image [His Way of thinking, looking at our lives, and acting]. Being Born Again we are recreated in His image; like Him. Now we must learn to manifest His image [He is the Head, we are the body]

He wants our lives to be
transformed manifesting His heart and exhibiting the Fruit of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We are to become like Him.

In the first two issues I mentioned that, in my view, the Body of Christ today seems more focused on three [3] destructive behaviors:

1] Chasing the provision verses chasing the Provider. This manifests itself in pursuing self-effort as opposed to receiving His Grace [His provision]; operating under His power.

2] We seem more focused on rationalizing our way through life [self-effort] than acquiring revelation from the Word of God in order to live life His Way. This causes us to really doubt God.

3] Our life becomes dominated by the tyranny of the urgent and we seem to live our lives in pursuit of acceptance instead of living from the position of acceptance in Christ; consequently we live a life of unrest.

God’s desire for our lives is marked by
Righteousness, Peace and Joy in the Holy Spirit. We are to REST by receiving from Him; not striving through our own self-effort.

Even in our giving Jesus taught us in very specific Words so that we do not fall into the trap of seeking man’s approval thus destroying our Peace and Rest.

“Take care not to do your good deeds publicly or before men, in order to be seen by them; otherwise you will have no reward [reserved for and awaiting you] with and from your Father Who is in heaven.
Thus, whenever you give to the poor, do not blow a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites in the synagogues and in the streets like to do, that they may be recognized and honored and praised by men. Truly I tell you, they have their reward in full already.
But when you give to charity, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
So that your deeds of charity may be in secret; and your Father Who sees in secret will reward you openly.”  Jesus

In the above [Matt 6: 1-4] Jesus affirms the positive value of giving but only when done in submission to God and love for Him, rather than seeking human personal glory. In verse two He points to the
“…hypocrites in the synagogues and in the streets”; they are the ones who claim to have a relationship with God and to love righteousness, but is self-seeking and even self-deceived. The Hypocrites denounced by Jesus were even unaware of their hypocrisy.

If we want to give in a way that pleases God here is what He says we must do:

We must resist the urge to promote ourselves or call attention to our giving. No one needs to know – not even the person we’re assisting. Jesus is clear that giving is between us and God.

When we give to others, we pass on what God has already given us. If we try to benefit from a gift that we give or place any condition on it, it ceases to be a gift and starts to become a bribe.

Freely it has been given to us and freely we are to give.

Give the gift quietly

Thank God for allowing you to give

Move on

Dwelling on our own generosity can lead to excessive pride; and NOTHING good comes from that.

God’s Perspective on giving is that no matter how generous we are, we still receive infinitely more from God than we give to others if it’s done His Way. No one, my Bible says, can out give God. That’s why
Humility Must Always Run Hand In Hand With Generosity.

Why is
HUMILITY important to personal development?

When it comes to our relationship with Him
God requires humility, which is trusting in Him.

Nothing proves trust more than obedience, in God’s Kingdom.

God’s pain is when we doubt Him and His pleasure is when we believe Him.

My Bible says that,
“But without faith [trust and holy fervor born of faith] it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].”  Hebrews 11:6

“Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].”

“Faith comes by hearing and hearing from the Word of God.”

God requires faith and obedience to Him which is humility because He knows more than we do. Nothing that God says makes sense to our brain; and God will not shrink his plan to fit into our minds. The Holy Spirit however, teaches us.

We grow personally when we obey His commands. Obeying Him is proof of our passion for Him. It is through obedience that He grows us from glory to glory. I will submit to you that as you develop your business there will be plenty of opportunity to give of your time / talent / and treasure, God’s way, to others. In doing so watch and see how He blesses and provides for your life, your family, your business.

Next time we will take a look at the phrase:
“Seed Time and Harvest” as it relates to personal development in the Kingdom of God. God wants us to focus on our seed not our need in order to personally grow in His Kingdom.

In His service,

Jesus said, “If any of you wants to be My follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross and follow Me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for My sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it”.
Jesus said, “If you love Me, you will obey My commands”.

Are you ready to make a commitment to do personal development His Way?
