WDJS [What Did Jesus Say] ABOUT …..

Over a decade ago we were exposed to the concept of WWJD [What Would Jesus Do?]. Even at the time I found the statement to be interesting but somewhat subjective in nature and certainly not very transformational as, I believe, history attests to.

It seemed subjective to me because without knowing first
what Jesus said that that would get in the way of knowing what He would do. So we had many “Christians” quite frankly speculating as to what He would do in certain circumstances; and in fact using the WWJD concept to justify their own non- biblical opinions and behavior. Why? Because they did not actually know and / or accept what He said: “… My word has no entrance (makes no progress, does not find any place) in you.” John 8: 37

You see if we all are not careful we can create a ‘god’ in our own image as opposed to being
transformed into in His image. Listen, we all have opinions about Jesus but only one thing actually matters and that is what He said. He is the One Who said: “Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. 7If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is..” John 14:6-7. Those are His Words, not mine; and I believe Him.

He said:

“I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the person whose ears are open to My words [who listens to My message] and believes and trusts in and clings to and relies on Him Who sent Me has (possesses now) eternal life. And he does not come into judgment [does not incur sentence of judgment, will not come under condemnation], but he has already passed over out of death into life.
Believe Me when I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the time is coming and is here now when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear it shall live.”  John 5: 24-25

Jesus said:

“… I have come to give you life and life more abundantly”. John 10:10

“The WORDS I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.”   John 6:63

“So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in Him, If you abide in My word [hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them], you are truly My disciples.  And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32  [You see it’s only the Truth that we actually know and hold onto that will set us free.]

“But He replied, It has been written, Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.”  Matthew 4:4

To me the greatest Words ever spoken were spoken by the greatest man that ever lived:
Jesus The Christ. By actually reading, meditation on, trusting in, depending on, waiting on, and acting on the Words of Jesus will we ever come to truly know the true essence of who Jesus is, how His heart seeks after us and as important how we are to conduct our lives.

The Words of Jesus s
hould form the foundation of our beliefs on every subject and issue of life; building our lives on the Rock [Matthew 7: 21-27]:

“Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven.
22Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name and driven out demons in Your name and done many mighty works in Your name?
23And then I will say to them openly (publicly), I never knew you; depart from Me, you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands].
24So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts upon them [obeying them] will be like a sensible (prudent, practical, wise) man who built his house upon the rock.
25And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.
26And everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not do them will be like a stupid (foolish) man who built his house upon the sand.
27And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell–and great and complete was the fall of it.”

It is the intent of this series of studies into the
Words Jesus Said about the issue of life to help us in our desire to totally surrender to His will, His ways and His truth; and in the process transform our lives and become more like Him.

What did Jesus say?

“But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.”    Matthew 6:33

Listen, I believe that The Lord is telling us that we have entered into a s
eason of acceleration: Life is speeding up and change is coming on this world in unprecedented speed.  If we live by the world’s standards we will live with feelings of insecurity and inferiority leading to fear. If we live by ever Word of God that come from the mouth of the Father and walk in faith I am hearing constantly from the Holy Spirit that everything we need will be added onto us in an accelerated way.

The choice is ours:
Word of God vs. man’s ways and worldly philosophies
Faith in Christ vs. fear of tomorrow and the torment of yesterday
Blessings vs.curses life vs. death [Deuteronomy 30:19]

Why is it important for us to
learn, cling to, hold onto, depend on and obey what Jesus has to say:

The Apostle Paul wrote:

“So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.”  Hebrews 2:1

Jesus Himself said:

20 Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. 21 Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne.
22Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying….”   Revelation 3: 20-22

“ … faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).” Romans 10:17

“But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those         who earnestly and diligentlseek Him [out].”Hebrews 11: 6
