WHEN I THINK ABOUT THE LORD

Recently I have been listening to a couple of songs:

“When I think about the Lord”

“My Soul Longs”

Both of these songs have so captured my soul that I have found myself listening to them over, and over and over again. In the car I have them on repeat, at my home computer I have them on iTunes and on repeat, on my iPod I have them on repeat.

Have you ever been so captured by the message and the melody of a song that you seem to be compelled to listen to it over and over and over and over? It is like the Holy Spirit is trying to capture our attention about a matter.

The Holy Spirit in us is constantly working too conform us to the image of Christ. He does this by helping us to really get to know Jesus. The road to transformation is through “getting to know God”.

Take the lyrics to the song
“When I think about the Lord”; the tile and the lyrics aren’t “IF I think about the Lord” but “WHEN I think about the Lord”. There is something INTENTIONAL about this concept of WHEN and not IF. There is something PURPOSEFUL, HEALING and ENCOURAGING in remembering what the Lord has done in our lives.

“When I Think About The Lord “   [Lyrics]

When I Think about the Lord,
How He saved me, how He raised me,
how He filled me, with the Holy Ghost.
How He healed me, to the uttermost.

When I Think about the Lord,
how He picked me up and turned me around,
how He placed my feet on solid ground

Chrous*

It makes me wanna shout,
Halleilujiah,
Thank you JESUS,
LORD, your worthy, of all the glory, and all the honor,
and all the praise… (Repeat*)

After we have gone through the process of constantly and consistently THINKING about the LORD and remembering all that He has done for us it takes us to a new level of relationship and our soul longs for more of knowing Him.

I can honestly say that
“My Soul Longs” for the presents of the Holy Spirit in my every step.

Listen to the lyrics of the chorus
“My Soul Longs”    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9Y3pxjFX74&playnext=1&list=PLC48CBFF1B87E8F0D&feature=results_main

Chorus
My soul longs for You
Longs with every step
Longs with every breath
My soul burns for You
Burns with Your desire
Burns with holy fire

Perhaps looking at it from God’s perspective:

PSALM 37:
Trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) in the Lord and do good; so shall you dwell in the land and feed surely on His faithfulness, and truly you shall be fed.[Seems to me that when we trust Him we are thinking about Him, when we lean on, rely on and are confident in Him we are thinking about Him]
Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.    [Those secret petitions come out of a heart that is seek HIS heart. It’s as if the Holy Spirit is placing in us His desires for us and we immediately recognize and connect with the promptings of the Holy Spirit; it’s a seamless and effortless process of walking in the light.]
Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass.
And He will make your uprightness and right standing with God go forth as the light, and your justice and right as [the shining sun of] the noonday.
Be still and rest in the Lordwait for Him and patiently lean yourself upon Him; fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.
When I
delight in Him “When I think About the Lord”  and what He has already done for me I start trusting Him more (lean on, rely on, and be confident) and I begin to feed on His faithfulness and it empowers me, enables me, and encourages me through all the seasons of life. I find myself wanting to become more like Him. My mind is continuously renewed to the point where the Spirit of God motivates me, compels me, instructs me.

“When I think about the Lord” I delight in Him and I find my comfort and my answers in Him and as I begin to be obedient to His Voice and His Direction He delights in my steps. It’s a cycle of life in His kingdom: I delight in Him and He delights in me
– “The steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and He busies Himself with his every step].”  Psalms 37:23.  [Can you just only imagine what the Lord can accomplish in our lives as we “Think about the Lord” and “Our Souls Longs” more and more for His presence in our lives and we become attentive to Him and obey His desires that He places in us and He Delights in our steps and busies Himself with our every step.]

I can only imagine the fruit that will be produce in a person’s life too have that kind of intimate relationship with our Creator and Father; a relationship that He calls us all too have.

The disciple that Jesus loves,

Len
